New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update Chappaqua, NY
Key Updates:
Progress and Coordination: • Plumbing Work: The plumbing work in the laundry and shower rooms has been completed. An inspection was conducted, and the system was successfully pressure tested by the Town. Additionally, a survey of the pipes is currently underway. The surveyor is onsite today, and the survey work is expected to take one day. A signed, sealed survey will be provided by the end of this week. • Electrical Work: The electrical contractor will begin the installation of the electrical conduit. • Excavation and Backfill Retaining Wall Work: The excavating company is onsite removing formwork from last week's concrete pour. Trenches for the elevator's electrical conduit have been dug, and the excavator is also backfilling the north portion of the retaining wall. A structural engineer will inspect this work once it is completed. The crane delivery date will be determined based on the ongoing work schedule.
Access and Parking: • No construction-related parking is allowed on Elm Street or Memorial Drive. All deliveries should enter the site via King Street. Any access through Memorial Drive will be communicated to the team in advance.
Environmental Safety Measures: • Silt fences and silt baskets are in place to manage runoff and sediment. These will be regularly checked and cleaned as necessary.
Community Engagement: • The Fire District encourages the community to stay informed through the Fire District’s website and local announcements. Regular updates on the project timeline, traffic impacts, and other important developments will be shared. Feedback from the community is always welcome.
