New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update: Excavation, Formwork, and Concrete Pouring Underway The New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project continues to make significant strides with key construction activities progressing on schedule. Key Updates Include: •Formwork Installation: Formwork installation is set to begin shortly. These materials are critical for the structural preparation of the foundation. •Concrete Pouring: A total of 94 cubic yards of concrete has already been poured along the southwest portion of the new foundation. Tomorrow, at approximately 12:30 PM, concrete will be poured for the planter walls on the south side, with three truckloads of concrete scheduled. Additionally, work will continue to form a retaining wall along the west side of the new addition, where concrete was already poured earlier this week. A total of 9 concrete trucks have delivered material to the site so far. •Cold Weather Plan: A cold weather plan is in place to ensure that construction activities, including concrete pouring, proceed without delay despite any potential weather challenges. •Environmental Safety Measures: Silt fences have been installed to manage erosion and runoff, with silt baskets placed to catch sediment and protect nearby stormwater systems. A tracking pad will also be set up at the site entrance to prevent soil from being tracked onto surrounding roads. Community members are encouraged to stay informed through the Fire District's website and local announcements as the project progresses. Regular updates on the project timeline, traffic impacts, and other developments will be provided. The fire district welcomes community feedback and will continue to share updates throughout the construction phase.
