New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project Update: Excavation, Formwork, and Concrete Pouring to Begin

Chappaqua, NY

The New Castle Fire District No. 1 Modernization Project is moving forward with significant developments.

Key Updates Include:

•Excavation Work: Excavation has begun along the southwest and western portions of the site, clearing the area for the upcoming footings and foundation work.

•Formwork & Rebar Deliveries: Formwork installation will start soon, and rebar deliveries are scheduled this week. These materials are essential for the structural preparation of the foundation.

•Concrete Pouring: A concrete pour is planned by the end of this week, which will mark a significant step in establishing the footings and foundation for the firehouse.

•Storage Container Delivered: A storage container has been delivered to the site to provide onsite storage for materials, helping streamline operations and maintain efficient workflows.

•Cold Weather Plan: A cold weather plan is being implemented on-site to ensure that construction activities, including concrete pouring, continue smoothly despite potential weather challenges. This plan will help mitigate any weather-related delays.

•Environmental Safety Measures: To manage erosion and ensure safety, silt fences will be installed to control runoff. Silt baskets will be placed to catch sediment and protect nearby stormwater systems. A tracking pad will also be set up at the site entrance to minimize soil tracking onto surrounding roads.
• Siren Removal: The old siren has been successfully removed as part of the project’s efforts to improve safety and enhance the aesthetic of the area.

Community members are encouraged to stay informed through the Fire District's website and local announcements as construction progresses. Regular updates regarding the project timeline, traffic impacts, and other developments will be shared. The fire district values community feedback and will continue to provide updates throughout the construction phase.
